USPA NEWS - Local Phuket boat builders were joined by yacht brokers, marine service providers and global top luxury yacht brands at the 11th Phuket International Marine Expo (PIMEX) which closed its doors on Sunday, 12 January at the Royal Phuket Marina.
In its eleven´s year, the Phuket International Marine Expo was hosting this successful and well established event from January 9 to January 12 at Royal Phuket Marina, and was well attended by interested individuals who were looking to buy and tourists who wanted to experience the magnificent ambience of a high end marina and various luxury brands.

PIMEX is staging the biggest in water display of yachts in the region. A vast amount of high quality sailing and motor yachts were on display at the show, from Superyachts such as the Azimut 105 with 104 ft (31.40 meters) to smaller-boats of sizes from 70 to 95 feet (21 to 29 meters) and Dhingies from 9 feet (2.75 meters).

With 150 million Euros of products on display, the exhibition also featured multi-million dollar villas, condominiums, Harley Davidson superbikes, marine products and equipment and much more.

Phuket is a leisure destination, surrounded by beautiful beaches and water and with a hot climate all year around which makes it the ideal place for the marine industry to prosper. As a regional marine hub with facilities featuring international standards, Phuket is ready for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. New tourism dynamics will give the marine industry further growth.

By Sunday evening good contacts were made, property, yachts and motorbikes were sold and the strength of the marina industry in Phuket was once again confirmed. 3,800 visitors from 56 different countries were registered enjoying the show in the hall, the display on the water and the various restaurants and shops on the boardwalk. 54% of these visitors were from overseas of which the majority came from Russia.
